3) Commit a single task

Commit a single task

You have discovered that why do you procrastinate you have taken a walk now it’s time to commit a single task, but not multiple tasks. If you start performing multiple tasks again you will be the victim of procrastination.

It is so obvious that successful people make their goals and then they breakdown them into small chunks or small tasks. Set a goal for yourself and start from a very small and single task. Once you come on track you will find study a kind of entertainment. You will be happy to study anything.

When I started reading books. I found books very boring. Because I started from a bulky book that had 500 to 600 pages. But then one of my friends suggested me to start with a book which had only 110 pages. It was easy for me to start and finish a book that had very less pages.

Now I can read any book bulky or having fewer pages, it is not a trouble for me at all. So, it is so obvious and I recommend you to start with a small and mini task.

4) Appreciate and reward yourself

Appreciate and reward yourself after completing any signle task

When you complete any single task, take some time and sit back, take rest, speak your mind, and appreciate yourself for the tremendous tasks that you have done. Don’t let anybody appreciate you, you have to appreciate and reward yourself.

It seems a very tiny task. But when you have done work and putting yourself on the back and saying “Well done!” while looking at yourself in the mirror.

Now take some time to go outside with your friends, take a book that you love to read, imbibe a glass of water, play a game that can make you entertained for a few minutes, buy something for yourself and do anything that can make you feel happy.

And when you appreciate yourself after completing any task you will feel motivated and you will think for the next task spontaneously.

5) Understand the topic

Understand the topic rather than cramming

Try to understand the topic rather than cramming. When you cram a topic though you will learn that topic at that time, you will not understand the topic. And you will forget sooner. And this will let you to demotivation.

These happen when you understand the topic deeply:

  • You will not memorize the topic
  • You can teach to others
  • You can save your time
  • You will not forget easily
  • You will not be disturbed mentally

Understanding the topic is an effective way to feel motivated to study for exams, tests, etc.

6) Make your study routine

make your study routine

“you will never change your life until you change that you do daily the secret of your success is found in your daily routine.” – john c. Maxwell

do you wake up in the morning, thinking about what should I do first? which subject, paper, or assignment I need to prepare first? what if I play now and study later?

planning your days is really important for better productivity. we spend most of the time deciding, what we will do?
and the result of all this is you end up procrastinating, and you don’t feel motivated to study.

Here is what happens when you create a routine for yourself

one of the benefits of a decided routine is that your mind is already prepared. what happens when you think of studying, at first? (i will do it later in a while)

but if you have written what you will be doing, guess what? your mind is prepared, it already knows 8:30 Am means study time, why? because you don’t have open options. you are specific about what you will do.

open options mean you can do anything! you may keep on scrolling Instagram for one hour with our realizing that you have wasted a lot of time. (for granted extra time)

You will make a stronger focus

when you study, you will have noticed that you think about other people or things. good bad whatever! but you are thinking about things that do not matter for you.

and later on, you realize, oh! I was studying!!! (that’s great keep on studying)

that happens because you don’t have a time limit for what you are doing. you think you have a lot of time, so you don’t have to hurry to finish something.

so that should not happen, your fixed routine will remind you time and again, that you have less time, it will create a sense of urgency that you need to do it fast! so won’t have time thinking about unnecessary things.

make a study routine, and you will get going without needing the motivation to study.

7) Develop good study habits

Developing any habit is hard but when it comes to studying habits it is difficult too. But you can Develop your study habits easily. There are some tactics through which you can easily develop your Study habits.

  • Try not to study too much at one time
  • Do not cram your study
  • Set a specific time for study
  • Perform the difficult task first
  • Revise before starting any new topic
  • Reserve some time for entertainment
  • Try to make your own Notes

These were the best ways to develop better study habits. The more you create your study habits the more you will succeed in your life. Like it is said.

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit”

– Aristotle

8) Get rid of distractions

Get rid of distractions while studying

many times, you want to study, but something inside you doesn’t let you do that. what is that thing? it could be a cell phone, a tv, or a noise!

find your distractions and remove them. practice airplane mode on your phone. sit in a place where you will find silence. clean your study desk, these are little things that you can do, but they contribute a lot in your motivation.

when you are studying and something distracts you, what happens? it breaks your momentum, it becomes difficult to focus on your studies. you keep on thinking about those distractions.

so, don’t allow these things to be a cause of distraction for you, remove them, and dive deep into your studies!!

9) Study in Groups

study in groups

Studying with others gives you the opportunity to find out what you know and what you don’t. Studying in groups can feed your knowledge. You can get anything which you couldn’t find by yourself. And it can help you break deeply imbedded habitual tendencies like procrastination, losing the target, deciding the topics, etc.

The best thing about studying in groups is, it can make you stay away from distractions, like using Facebook, Instagram, and other things which can be a cause to distract you while studying. The group study will make your study more enjoyable than an individual.

PS: Don’t study in such a group where the majority don’t have the intention to study. Where no one is good enough to teach you what you really want.

10) Start with End in mind

Stephen covey in his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change has described 7 habits of effective people. and one of them is, they begin with the end in mind.

see it’s so important to know what you want to be? why are you studying even? what’s the purpose? whenever you study, think about your purpose your goals.

do you want to study to get better grades? or you want to study just so that you can have a lot of information? maybe you want to become a teacher, to teach it to others.

when you know, where you want to go, you get motivated yourself! you will not need the motivation to study. (and you should not)

So change your attitude and next time don’t be the same anymore.

last words

so, if you are still there with me, congrats because you have got the ability to take time and read!!

now I want to remember you once again, that motivation is not always the answer. sometimes you will feel down, you have to go through tough and difficult situations.

if you feel bad, it’s completely okay, we are humans, it’s the part of our nature.

so, make a daily routine, break down big tasks into smaller ones, and start doing what you have to do(study).

enjoy your studies, by understanding the concept and purpose of the topics. ask yourself what’s the real-world application of what I am studying.

students are in misconception, they watch videos, movies and read the article expecting they will remain motivated! but that’s not true, you need a system not motivating words.

try studying without searching for motivation to study, if you do that, you will realize that you don’t need the motivation to study, you need just your self-belief, that’s All!!!

so that’s what I had to say about motivation to study, if something else motivates you to study then do share with us in the comment section.
